Health Reimbursement Arrangement (HRA)
An HRA can enhance and provide benefits with a group health plan. The employer provides a monthly allowance that can help employees pay for out of pocket expenses such as deductibles and co-insurance with pre-tax dollars. The employer is in control and sets all the parameters and guidelines of the amount of the allowance, as well as who is eligible. This is a reimbursement plan so the benefit is paid to the employee as medical expenses are incurred, subject to a maximum amount set by the employer.
